About

Hi! I’m Daniela, a writer and director from Monterrey, Mexico.

A lot of my work explores childhood, femininity, and religion, often blending genres like horror and fantasy. I’m interested in the uncomfortable parts of growing up and in the way imagination can feel both beautiful and unsettling.

My thesis short film, Cuentos de Hadas (2023), premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, where it received the Student Visionary Award. The jury described the film as having a naturalistic approach to a child’s imagination, with unsettling and nuanced elements woven into a story about friendship.

In 2024, I completed a Master’s degree in Film Directing in Barcelona, where I wrote and directed Loreto (2026), currently in post-production.

I’m also in post-production on my next short film, Cuando las niñas crecen, winner of Canacine Shorts Nuevo León 2023.

In 2020, I co-founded Fílmicas, a collective focused on supporting and promoting women in the film industry, something that continues to be an important part of my work.
